The latest

Again with the apologies, no updates in forever.

I've split off my food stuff into a separate blog, and will be adding some on my regular recipes - meatballs, risotto, etc.

I've also started a new blog with a friend about hiking with our dogs - always entertaining.

And once I get all settled in, I'll start posting here again. Probably.

Memorial Day Weekend

I'm off to Reno - taking Elliott, and staying at my Aunt Carol's - should be a fun weekend of visiting, and maybe hitting a casino or two :)

In the meantime...

Obviously, I haven't posted for a while, but I swear, I have a really good excuse.

I GOT A PUPPY!!

And oh my god, what was I thinking.

His name is Elliott, he's a shelter dog (I got him here: http://www.sanjoseanimals.com) and he's part dachshund, and part mystery... guesses so far include:

beagle
pit bull
basset
other

I'm having problems with pictures, so I'll come back to this...

Autumn, Fall, Birthdays

I LOVE fall. I mean, ridiculously so. I would marry fall. In, you know, October :)

It's almost my birthday, which pleases me - my mom, sisters, and nieces will hopefully come to my house for a birthday dinner of my choice - with a delicious out-of-the-box lemon layer cake. They're really the best, you know?

That's pretty much it for now.

yea, that's it.

Today was strange.

Today was strange.

The customer I've supported for the last two years ended their contract with the company I work for, and today was the official last day. Some people got jobs with the customer, some with the new vendor, and some stayed with us, helping other customers. But quite a few people lost their jobs - and up until just a few days ago, I was going to be one of them. I'm quite thankful that I'm "safe" for now, and looking forward to doing a slightly different version of the job I do now, but am a little apprehensive to have a new boss that I don't know well. All my previous interactions with him have been positive, so I don't think I'll hate him or anything, but I've been so comfortable with my current boss - we both started around the same time, and learned to live by our wits - our predecessors did NOT leave many breadcrumbs for how we should be doing our jobs, so we made things up as we went along. Our customer seemed to approve, right up to the end.

So it was a day of goodbyes; some welcome, some indifferent, but most a bit sad - when you work with a group of people, argue with them, collaborate with them, and spend more than 8 hours a day with them, you do grow a bit fond :)

I'll miss y'all.

Well, most of you ;)
